EIMC United Pharma:
Introduction:
Since its establishment in 1992 EIMC adopted a clear,
determined corporate strategy, supported by a long-term
plan aimed to position the company as the main distributor
and supplier of Cytotoxics, plasma derivatives and Intensive
Care products to the Egyptian Market. This target has
almost been achieved through dedicated work and cooperation
with foreign suppliers known for their good experience
and excellent reputation in the manufacturing of these
vital products.
The fact that Cytotoxics and Intensive Care products
need a special way of handling and manufacturing precautions,
compounded by the commercial factors related to the
high investments needed and consequently financial risks,
all these factors made it not easy for pharmaceutical
manufacturers in the developing countries to penetrate
this area of industry, Egypt is no exception and the
market suffered in many occasions of shortages of these
vital products.
Market dynamics and the implementation of international
trade agreements (GATT & TRIPS) made it a must for
Egypt to plan and seriously act for self-sufficiency
of these desperately needed products.
EUP Facility
Supported by its wealth of experience and good exposure
to the international pharmaceutical market, EIMC have
decided to take the initiative to build the first facility
of its kind in the Middle East & Africa for the
production of an integrated wide range of cost –effective,
value adding Anticancer and intensive care products.
For this purpose a joint venture Company EUP
(Eimc United Pharmaceuticals) has been established
in 2003.

of anticancer products exported to 35
Countries worldwide, its role is to provide the know-

the facility.

construction and planned to start commercial scale production
on the first quarter of 2006 has been designed with
flexibility in mind to meet current needs and allows
for future expansion. The production area has been equipped
to handle several product types and formulations; the
plant will first produce liquid sterile parenterals
(vials & Ampoules), with future plans to install
a freeze dryer for lyophilized forms. The facility comprises
several laboratories fitted out with the latest equipment
designed to support a state of- the –art production
within the same building.
The facility has been designed and constructed to meet
the F.D.A. requirements, and European G.M.P. guidelines
